Rochon was born at Torrance (a suburb in Los Angeles), is the daughter of Zelma Staples. Her parents are Samuel Staples a graphic designer and businessman. Cerritos Senior High School, in Cerritos California is the place where Rochon graduated in 1982. In 1986 she earned her degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), where she received a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. Her degree also included minors in theatre and sociology. In 2016, Rochon returned to CSUDH for the role of keynote speaker during the commencement ceremonies for CSUDH's College of Arts and Humanities

Ullerup appeared as Julia Brynn for the first appearance in Battlestar Galactica: The Remake, 2006 Sci Fi Channel. The actress played Ashley Magnus on the Sanctuary TV series during its initial season and the second one until it was written off. A lot of fans demanded her return, even though the show had been ended. Ullerup was cast in 2016 in the role of Bree O'Brien for Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup was the character Maggie Thomas in Asteroid: Final Impact, the movie that chronicles the disaster of 2015. Ullerup's recurring role in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered series has been Dale Travers since 2016.
