Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American dancer and actress. Her first appearances on Broadway include roles in the productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured actress in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent her professional career working with highly acclaimed actors and directors in stage both on and off screen. She has continued to collaborate with award-winning actors on many forthcoming projects. Ashford is set to next be playing opposite Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited show Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently filming on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. This is an Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The group behind Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail are at the director's helm for the show. Ashford starred as Paula Jones, the main character of Ryan Murphy's latest FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the national story of a scandal that included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other major actors. She was part of the cast for two seasons of the cult CBS comedy B Positive. She was also a guest on the successful series that was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Her additional Broadway credits includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and raised in Denver, now spends time between Los Angeles & New York.
